Fifth Grade Central Cougars have been honing their musical skills this year through 5th Grade Choir. The voluntary program is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school starts.
Music Teacher Avalon Bloodgood leads the group. She said the program focuses on developing musical ability, working as part of a team, and performing both on stage and in spaces around the community. Students learn to develop their musical ability, including note and pitch recognition, interval training, acapella singing, harmony, as well as exposure to music from different genres and cultures.
“Music is something that connect us all and helps people to feel seen and known. Fifth Grade Choir is an opportunity for students to dive deeper into the world of music while fostering a musical community and pushing them to step out of their comfort zone with support of their peers,” Bloodgood said.
Fifth grade students at Central Elementary interested in joining Choir should contact the school office or email avalon.bloodgood@lagrandesd.org.
Here’s to making beautiful music, Cougars!
